I returned today from a trip to Burnet, TX to visit distant (and beloved) relatives of mine. My cousin, a highly educated and worldly woman, impressed me with her knowledge and culture. I returned to Houston refreshed and eager, vowing to develop fluency in a new language, research a country about which I currently know nothing, and study architecture and design. Then I found out about Amy Winehouse’s death and spent 2 hours reading tabloids and gossip websites. Oops.
